Most of my work is sketches with a pencil or bic pen, but I found a some acrylic paints in my closet at home and started out with my first painting. The digital camera this was taken with is very fairly poor in quality, but for $25 it works fine.

The actual canvas is much wider (24X12). There is still a lot to do in the foreground, so
as the painting progresses, I'll add new photos.

Update 2: I've added bluebonnets and a root system as well as fixed the waterways
quite a bit. The blue color next to the yellow creates an eye movement
the sweeps the viewer around the main tree to the background either way. Of course
the tree catches attention without need of help.

(June, 2003) Here are a few sketches I found in an old pile and a new sketch just done of my neighbor's dog. Usually I don't sketch dogs, but this one has so much personality you have to remind yourself it isn't human. The sketches of the cat bones are from my undergrad years in Comparative Anatomy class. The face of the man was something I felt like sketching after reading Mark Allen's "As You Think" when I realized people wear two faces, sometimes all at once. If you cover up one side with your hand, you'll see the sadness and worry, if you cover up the other you will see the happiness. It had a lot to do with trying to catch character on paper. Each thumbprint should be clickable to get a larger view.
