"Site Reviews" (Nov, 2001)
After reviewing sites for climbing gear, tips on training, the local areas to climb... I've come up
Here is a list of excellent climbing sites:
- TexasClimbers.com YankOnThis is strictly bouldering, but this site focuses the top rope, sport and trad areas in Texas. Lots of info and it also has a forum to post up beta or find out who going climbing.
- Dr.Topo.com Need a topo map of Hueco Tanks you can print in a fold-able booklet style? This is a great site with topos made both by the site's author and those sent in by others.
- Training For Climbing Eric Horst has written several excellent books, two of which I am currently enjoying. His site gives you some of the excellent training tips he has gathered from many years of climbing experience. His books are outstanding dealing with the mental and physical aspects to improve your climbing.
- TradGirl.com Dawn has really compiled a huge source of information about anything you can think of in climbing. This includes how to build home climbing walls, gear information, ...very good site.
- Climbing Magazine Climbing Magazine posts up volumes of information from their old articles with excellent information on Sport, Trad, Ice, and other types of climbing.
- Barrabes.com I simply can't put the tears of joy in words when I found I can buy climbing shoes at half the price we spend here in the US. Ok, maybe that overblown, but it is an excellent source for climbing gear at amazingly low cost. (Hit the English Version button)
- "Spew" Page of Franklin Climbing Holds I found this page has some excellent climbing advice for training and some great stories (Especially the one about Bishop).
I'll post up more sites as I find them. There are many good site out there, but these are the sites I have found the most useful so far.
Take Care,
Steve
